Mountain shocks on chase debut
Delphi Mountain sprang a 25/1 shock in the Kelly Foley & Co Beginners Chase at Killarney.
Trainer/jockey Denis Hogan gave the Oscar gelding a confident ride, sending him to the front turning for home.
He soon had his rivals in trouble and galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post a three-and-a-half length victory over De Valira
There was drama for the third-placed Arch Rebel after the line as he collided with a loose horse and unseated Shay Barry.
"He's a good horse but has been plagued with injuries," said Hogan of the winner.
"He has a screw in his knee and I think everyday that this run could be his last.
"I hope there is a novice chase in him. He's not slow and had a nice run on the Flat at Bellewstown last time."
