Iron Mountain completed a good day for Aidan O'Brien, and a memorable Guineas weekend, when claiming the O'Brien's Wines Irish EBF Maiden.
Ryan Moore produced the 2/1 shot to lead a furlong-and-a-half from home in the ten furlong contest and he stuck on well in the closing stages.
The War Front colt proved too strong for the Dermot Weld-trained newcomer Europium (9/10 favourite) to record a three-and-three-quarter length win.
The winner had been fourth on his sole start at Dundalk last year.
“He stays going well and kept pulling out so he might get further than a mile-and-a-quarter,” said O'Brien.
“Ryan was very strong on him. He got a hold of him and he found plenty under pressure.
“He'll be fine at that but he won't mind stepping up in trip either.
“He could go to Ascot for a race over a mile-and-a-half or a mile-and-six. Maybe he won't need that far though as he's a War Front.”
