Mosstown gives Harrington a double
Jessie Harrington was back in the winner’s enclosure this evening after Mosstown got up in the closing stages to land the hotelmeyrick.ie & ghotel.ie Handicap in the hands of Shane ‘Dusty’ Foley making it a double on the day for the trainer.
Winning trainer Harrington stated afterwards, “The B.B Horse Racing Club that own this horse are the first syndicate I ever had. They have been so lucky and they have had plenty of horses with me and only one horse has never won for them.”
“He was bought to go hurdling and it’s a help that he likes that ground. It’s great to get a double on day one of the festival.”
Harrington then whispered, “I’m keeping up with Mr Weld! But I’m sure he’ll pull away from me shortly.”
The Dermot Weld trained Art Broker was the 6/4 favourite who finished in 10th position was examined by the Turf Club Veterinary officer and was found to be post race normal.
Pat Smullen reported to the stewards that his mount ran flat throughout.
