James Ryan partnered his 30th winner of 2023 as Morning Logic recorded a 25/1 surprise in the concluding Story Of Dundalk Stadium Book Buy Online Maiden.
The Thomas Coyle-trained gelding has been mainly campaigned over hurdles but successfully switched to the Flat here in this mile and a half event.
The Dream Ahead gelding made headway on the outer to lead over a furlong out and despite drifting left after striking the front, kept on well for the talented 5lb claimer to beat Gran Caballo by two and a quarter lengths.
The evens favourite Squire Danagher could find no extra inside the final furlong a further length and a half back in third.
Coyle said, "Up here has been on my mind for a little bit to be honest. James is a good family friend of ours and I have been dying to get him a winner, so I'm delighted with that.
"To be fair, we had the horse up here about six weeks ago and he worked really well. My horses started coughing and it has just run its course. That's actually the first horse we have run in about six weeks.
"I thought next time might have been the go because of the lights. I always knew he had ability but his mind has been so backward, he's only coming now. He's starting to relax at home.
"We could have a bit of fun - ground is a big thing for him. We will race here in the new year and he is going to go chasing in the summer. He's actually a good jumper and doesn't have enough respect for hurdles."
