Morgan restores Pride
The Joanna Morgan trained Mountain Pride recorded his first win in two years, and his first since moving to Ireland, when winning the Follow Leopardstown On Facebook Handicap at Leopardstown this evening.
Ridden by Gary Carroll, the son of High Chapparal edged right inside the final furlong but held the challenge of Celendine by three parts of a length.
Afterwards Morgan revealed “Mountain Pride had a wind operation when he came to us and had his first run for me at Navan the last day.”
“Myself and his owner had a huge bet on him to win and we didn’t think he could get beaten - he did today what we thought he’d do at Navan!”
“He’ll probably go for a handicap hurdle now but fractured his pelvis in the past and as a result he’s an alright but not a super jumper.”
