Monty battles well under Barry
Our Monty who many will remember taking dramatic action to avoid a loose horse near the line when scoring at Downpatrick last month, got back in the winning groove after a seventh placing over hurdles at Bellewstown, when he outgunned Lady Ramona by a head with Barry Geraghty back in the plate in the Paddy Smyth Memorial Handicap Chase.
Gavin Cromwell trains this fellow for Denis Reddan and he said: "That was a gutsy performance. He has plenty of speed and he won on the flat before. I thought faster ground would suit him better. The Galway Blazers is a possibility. He is going to the sales the week after that."
Given his versatility and his breeding (a Montjeu out of that good racemare, She's Our Mare), Our Monty won't be short for interest when he goes through the ring. Some Legend stable companion of the eye-catching third, Jack Finch, was just winded after his last fence fall.
