Niall Moore and Montel Glory teamed up to land the 80-95 handicap hurdle over two and a quarter miles in Downpatrick.
The 6/1 chance made headway into second before two out and worked his way to the front approaching the last.
He stayed on well to post a two and three quarter length victory over Top Basanta (13/2). Maggie Barrett was seven lengths further back in third at 12/1.
Moore said: "It's great to get one for Philip (Fenton). He's left me on that lad every day.
"He was improving on every run and I always thought he was going to be something someday.
"No it wasn't much of a concern (dropping back in trip) because I had done a few good bits of work at home with horses that got that trip or two miles. It didn't seem a bother to him.
"His jumping has improved a lot and he is very slick now. You could (call him a winner a long way out), Philip has done a very good job with him."
