Montan makes it 2 for Martin & Carberry
Tony Martin and Paul Carberry both recorded their second successes of the afternoon at Fairyhouse when combining with Montan (6/1 into 9/2), the winner of the New Tote Daily Double Beginners Chase.
Carberry donned the well-known silks of Billy Moffett on the fine big French-bred chasing debutant and he got the better of Killultagh Queen in a terrific finish to the extended two mile five furlong event having arrived with his challenge travelling well.
Martin, earlier got on the scoresheet courtesy of the Robbie Moran-ridden Elcanos and he said: "I always thought there was a good one in him over hurdles. He got into a bit of bother at the second last and was a bit unlucky in the MCR Hurdle.
"He's always jumped well. It's probably a bit late in the day going for some of the top novice races. He's in the RSA Chase but you'd like four or five runs over fences going there. We'll step him up to a winners of one now and we'll see how he gets on."
Carberry earlier won on the Gordon Elliott-trained Chino Valdes and himself and Andrew McNamara (won the first race on Alaivan are now joint leaders at the top of the National Hunt jockeys list on 55 winners apiece.
