Misty Mountain was the 16/1 winner of the opening O'Heir's Bakery (Mares) Maiden Hurdle at Sligo today, scoring for trainer James Lambe and his stepson jockey Liam McKenna.
The daughter of Lemon Drop Kid today made all to beat Champagne Diva by six lengths and following the race trainer Lambe stated “we'd have been disappointed if she wasn't in the first three and she's a better mare this year. She had a bit of a break with the covid and when I ran her in Tramore off the break, we knew she had improved from the run.
“She was working the house down, I fancied her today and I thought she was the one to beat. I told the owners to have a few quid on her. She worked very well during the week. She's run twice around here and she's run very well.”
