Leopardstown racegoers likely saw two very nice juveniles with odds-on Minnie Hauk beating promising newcomer Subsonic in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.

For Newtown Anner Stud, Johnny Murtagh and Ben Coen Subsonic threatened to bridge the gap to Cork second placer Minnie Hauk from over a furlong out.

However, the Ballydoyle victor found enough in the hands of Wayne Lordan to score by half a length.

Representing winning connections Chris Armstrong said:- “She had a lovely run the first day and came on nicely from it.

“Wayne gave her a lovely ride, he said she just wasn't mad about the ground. She's a beautiful mover and she'll handle better ground.

“She's a lovely filly to look forward to next year, to start off in one of the trials. Hopefully she'll turn into an Oaks filly, she's a lovely staying filly.

“He felt when the second came to him he was always doing enough to hold her.

“That is Wayne's 50th winner of the season; he's on track for his best domestic season prize-money wise as well.”

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Grace My Love ridden by J.A. Heffernan, unplaced, and Guilty Pleasure ridden by P.A. Harnett, placed fourth, where it appeared J.A. Heffernan had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.A. Heffernan stated that his mount was weakening in the straight when he suffered interference. P.A. Harnett stated that a gap was opening and the horse in front of him was retreating so he moved towards the railing. However, on further questioning he accepted he wasn't clear of Grace My Love when moving towards the railing. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found P.A. Harnett, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (third offence), the Raceday Stewards suspended him for eight racedays.

The Raceday Stewards reviewed the home straight involving Faberi ridden by Siobhan Rutledge, unplaced, and Subsonic, ridden by B.M. Coen, placed second, where Subsonic was laying down her challenge and Faberi reacted to this manoeuvre. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
