Minella Class gets Horgan off the mark
Minella Class upset some more fancied rivals in the Ladbrokes Cheltenham Bumper Series (Pro/Am) Flat Race, getting the better of the favourite, Current Resession by a length and a half.
Sporting the well-known John Nallen silks, Minella Class with Mikey Fogarty up - his "sixth or seventh winner on the track," was providing Trevor Horgan with a first training success under Rules.
The Co.Kilkenny-based handler commented: "I ran him in December in a point-to-point and I couldn't believe it when he only finished fourth. I ran him back then in a maiden hurdle quick after that to see what the story was and he disappointed again so he must be best fresh.
"He is a genuine and straight-forward horse that runs best when fresh. We'll wait for a while now and go for a maiden hurdle at a nice galloping track on soft ground. That's if he isn't sold in the meantime."
Interestingly Minella Class was one day placed second 'between the flags' to Al Ferof, a bumper winner himself since and now with Paul Nicholls.
