Midnitemudcrabs emphatically landed a gamble in the seven furlong handicap in Gowran Park for three-year-old horses rated 47-65.
John Feane's charge raced off 66 and availed of Gary Halpin's 5lb claim. She was dropping back in trip after finishing fourth in a mile handicap at Navan just over a week ago.
She opened at 11/2 and was backed at all rates down to 3/1 favourite. Gealan was sent into an early lead as Gary Halpin settled Midnitemudcrabs in fourth of the 12 runners.
She improved to third entering the straight and was driven into the lead over two furlongs out. She opened up and drew clear with a furlong to travel and galloped on to score by seven lengths.
Jim Bolger 's Intense Stylist came out of the pack to stay on for second at 6/1. Helvic (20/1) was a further three parts of a length back in third.
“She'll go for the fillies' handicap at the Curragh now. She'll get into it now anyway!” John Feane said.
This was Midnitemudcrabs' second career victory on her eighth start. She won her maiden at Dundalk in March.
