Donagh Meyler partnered his first winner as the Tony Martin-trained Anibale Fly justified 5/4 favouritism in the bumper at Navan.
The 19-year-old Kilkenny rider is based with Martin, and this brought up a double on the day for his boss who was successful earlier with No Secrets in the veterans handicap chase.
However those who supported the âjollyâ must have been anxious as Meyler was hard at work in the straight with the front-running Robin Of Locksley showing no signs of stopping.
Anibale Fly, runner-up to Jetstream Jack on his debut at Fairyhouse on New Yearâs Day, got to the front a furlong out and stayed on well from that point to eventually score by six and a half lengths. Figurative was a further eight lengths away in third.
Martin said, âHe's a lovely horse. He had a lovely run at Fairyhouse and I thought he had improved a nice bit.
âWe won't make an immediate plans. We're happy with today and we'll see what he's like in three weeks time. He's a nice horse for the future.
âHe picked up nicely and went about his business nicely today.â
