Mexico has rivals well sized up
Sizing Mexico showed the benefit of his seasonal and hurdling debut at Fairyhouse earlier this month by readily justifying odds of 4/6 in the INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Hurdle.
The hot-pot was never too far from the pace under Andrew Lynch, and asserted before the final flight to beat Gran Torino who found little under pressure after pecking slightly on landing two out, by five and a half lengths. Grancore Girl kept on well at one pace to finish just a half length further adrift in third.
Winning trainer Henry De Bromhead said, “He's a real chaser in the making, and anything he does this season will be a bonus. He's very exciting, stays and jumps well but also had the pace to win a bumper last year. He's filling out but still raw, and soft ground would appear to be the key. He's entered for the Barry & Sandra Kelly at Navan next month, while the Dorans Pride Novice Hurdle at the Limerick Christmas meeting is another option.”
