Mega Mindy caused a 20/1 upset to win the opening Bar One Racing Irish EBF (Mares) Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse today, scoring for trainer John 'Shark' Hanlon and jockey Bryan Cooper.
The daughter of Turtle Bowl raced with the leaders throughout the 2m4f contest and edged past leader Cushinstown Finest on the run-in, to eventually score a neck win.
Hanlon wasn't present and afterwards jockey Cooper stated “Shark said after her run over hurdles the last day, that this was her plan. She had previously been off for a while but he had this race in mind and fancied her big-time.
“His horses are flying and it’s great to ride a winner on one of these days.
“I needed a jump at the last but to be fair she had a bit left and she pulled up a bit when she got to the front.”
