- McNamaras Take Last Two at Tramore
McNamaras Take Last Two at Tramore
Andrew McNamara was successful in the 7.50 on Manorville and half-an-hour later it was the turn of his brother, Robbie, who successfully deputised for Patrick Mangan on Jimbatai the half length winner of the concluding Waterford & Tramore Supporters Club Flat Race.
This chestnut son of Moscow Society had a couple of fruitless spins in point-to-points but following a good debut under Rules he was backed from 7/1 into 5/1 for this two miler. He needed all of his rider's strength to beat the favourite, Elaine's Twinkle
Jimmy Mangan, the triumphant trainer, said, "My own young lad (his son Patrick) had a touch of the flu. I needed the man I had in the end, Robbie is a seriously good rider. This horse is going to make a very very good two mile chaser. He had no luck in point-to-points but he is very fast over a fence."
Jimbatai is out of that good mare, Kouron, and is a half-brother to useful bumper/hurdles winner, Judge Deed. (EM)
