McNamara seen to good effect
The Inistioge Beginners Chase was won by the Edward O'Grady 3/1 shot Bringbackthebiff ridden by Andrew McNamara and owned by Thomas Barr.
McNamara made all on the Colombia gelding, clear from halfway, reduced advantage straight but kept on well to hold off the effort of the Willie Mullins trained Captain Conflict by ? length.
Winning trainer O'Grady said afterwards, "I'm delighted with that and it's my first winner for the owner Thomas Barr. I thought this was a very good renewal of the race and as good a novice chase we've seen for a long time. We put a tongue tie on him today and I'm still not sure if he's mad about the heavy ground. We have no firm plans but he'll be entered in The Jewson Novice Chase at Cheltenham next month."
