McNamara doubles up on Finch
Jack Finch ground out victory in the Rainbow Telecom Handicap Chase to give Andrew McNamara a double at Down Royal. Scavenger looked the likely winner coming to the second last only to nuckle over on landing. Hume River was left in the lead but couldn't hold the charge of Jack Finch on the run-in, going under by three-parts-of-a-length to the Edward O'Grady-trained runner.
"He's tough. The whole way through the race there were horses travelling better than him but he just kept jumping and kept his head down," said McNamara.
