McNamara Majestic on Concorde for Weld
The feature race of the day The G.P.T Galway (QR) Handicap was won by Dermot Weld making it a double on the day so far for the trainer, in the hands of Robbie McNamara on Majestic Concorde for owner Dr Ronan Lamb.
Weld commented afterwards, 'The Plan is to run him in the Guiness Galway Hurdle on Thursday pending on how the horse comes out of the race. We are going for the double and there is a 50,000e bonus if we win both. Denis O'Regan is booked to ride him.
Dermot Weld has won this race 4 times as jockey 3 times on Spanner and once on Ticonderoga and has trained 5 winners of the race. Weld was full of praise for jockey Robbie McNamara he said, ' Robbie gave him a peach of a ride, he is a very stylish amateur and a good guy. The shortest way around here is on the inner and robbie did it well.'
