J.P. McManus' Gorgeous Suspect was the heavily backed winning 11/8 favourite (morning 11/4, show 15/8) of Limerick's Treo Eile Retraining Racehorses Maiden Hurdle today, completing a double for the owner and retained jockey Mark Walsh.
The lightly-raced Authorized gelding was held up in mid-field and while his jumping wasn't always fluent, travelled strongly and was produced late for an easy win from Sixhandsinmypockets.
McManus and Walsh combined to win opener with Shajak and following their second success, winning trainer Aidan Howard said “he travelled lovely, the ease in the ground and the extra couple of furlongs helped. He is a little bit keen and if he gets racing early he doesn't get home sometimes so Mark took his time and left him creep away.
“He has had little issues so we try to mind him; we concentrate on horses like him and it works out.
“We'll mix between hurdles and fences now and see whatever suitable races come up.”
