McMahon father and son take last at Kilbeggan
The concluding race on this evenings card, the Loughnagore (Pro/Am) Flat Race was won the William McMahon trained Champion Court in the hands of his son and namesake William.
McMahon who was towards rear for most moved through the field to join leaders from over two furlongs out.
The Court Cave gelding responded well to pressure and kept on strongly to lead in the closing stage and deny 6/4 favourite Khorun by a length and three quarters.
Winning trainer McMahon said afterwards: "That was a surprise. The plan was to be handier with him but he lost his place."
"It was a good performance for a first time out horse. We didn't really know what to expect as we've nothing at home for him to work with."
"If he's not sold we'll probably go for another bumper."
