Brian McMahon and Phillip Enright successfully teamed up for the second day in succession at Punchestown as Sizing Malbay landed the Baltreacy Handicap Chase.
The same trainer/jockey combination were on the mark with Powersbomb in the featured Ladbrokes Handicap Chase here yesterday and added to their haul here with a new recruit to the Galway yard.
The 9/1 chance, available at 12/1 early in the day, led over the last and kept on really well in the closing stages to score by two and three quarter lengths.
The well-backed 2/1 favourite Robin De Roost took the runner-up spot by a head from Fill The Tank
Enright said, “She’s won two hurdles and is running off her hurdle mark today. She jumped well and travelled well all the way.
“She’d a nice run in Kilbeggan on her first run for Brian McMahon. He thought she had improved a bit from that and that she might be competitive.
“Brian has done a great job with her. He’s a great supporter of mine and a very good trainer. Hopefully he’ll get more recognised for it.”
