“That’s two winners in a week!” a delighted Dermot Anthony McLoughlin exclaimed after Presenting Kate and Conor Maxwell held on to prevail by a short head at Downpatrick.
“She’s had a few problems with her wind and had a wind operation last year. It was a bad race, but she kept at it,” McLoughlin added.
“The ground was beautiful. Conor gave her a great ride. She’s a middle of the road filly.”
McLoughlin’s other winner this week was Ocean Bright at Bellewstown last Sunday at 33/1.
Presenting Kate (14/1) hit the front before three out in this two mile seven handicap hurdle. Easy Vic the 10/3 favourite was produced to challenge after the last and the two fought a battle in the closing stages with Presenting Kate on the inside holding on.
It was three and a quarter lengths back to Baby’s Hot (4/1 from 11/2) in third.
Since finishing fifth to Carrig Millie in a beginners’ chase in Thurles in February Presenting Kate had been pulled up, finished sixth and fell last time at Tramore.
