The Michael Winters trained Granny Biddy gained her fourth win in her last five starts when landing the Paddy Power Extra Places Handicap Hurdle at Cork today and in the process winning jockey Donie McInerney saw his 7lbs claim reduced.
The daughter of Flemensfirth took 13 runs to gain her maiden win at Tramore last August and was today following up other wins at Listowel and again at Cork last month, when scoring an eight lengths win over Bye Bye O Bye
Afterwards Winters stated “she was doing plenty there and we now have the option of coming back her eon Hilly Way Chase day for a 0-140 handicap hurdle. Eventually we hope she can keep climbing the ranks and run in those series of mares novice chases.”
In-demand McInerney had made a big impact in recent months and was today steering his 20th racecourse winner, and thereby has his claim reduced to 5lbs for Thursday's meeting at Thurles.
