Ado McGuinness completed a fine half-hour's work at Ballinrobe today as the trainer completed a double in the On-Course Vets (Fillies) Maiden with Final Treat
McGuinness won the opener with Military Hill for established owner Sean Gallagher but doubled up with Final Treat, ridden by Chris Hayes, which was the trainer's first winner for Rathbarry Stud's Paul Cashman.
Final Treat, having her seventh career start today, stayed on well to beat Shemara by five lengths and afterwards McGuinness said “she came from William Haggas' and we got her a month before Galway and she ran a cracker there.
"She's a really nice filly and she's very well bred (a half-sister to Finsceal Beo) and to win a maiden with her makes her very valuable to Paul (Cashman, owner).
"It's his first horse ever with me and hopefully we'll get some black-type with her at some stage.
"We had her in Cork on Saturday but we decided to come here when we saw the maiden. We had a great draw and we had to make use of it."
