Ansgar has shown race winning potential several times in his previous ten lifetime starts before tonight and it all came together for the Celtic Swing gelding in the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Handicap at Dundalk.
Declan McDonogh went out and made all on the 8/1 shot (from 10s) and he kept on strongly from over a furlong out to beat Paddy The Celeb by two and a quarter lengths.
Sabrina Harty trains Ansgar, having his second start at Dundalk, for his breeder, Chynel Phelan, and Shane Fox and she said: "He deserved that. He's been working like a cracking horse at home. He's had no luck. He's been unlucky a few times but he loves the polytrack."
Phelan and Fox hail from Donadea in County Kildare. (AM & EM)
