Scott McCullagh completed a double from two rides at Limerick today, completing the feat on the Oliver McKiernan trained L'un Deux Trois (9/1) which landed the Regeneron Ireland Apprentice Handicap by a nose.
The grey son of Mastercraftsman made good headway on the outer in the home straight, improving to lead at the line, beating runner-up Tudor Manor by the minimum margin.
McCullagh, earlier successful on the Jessica Harrington trained, Moyglare Stud-owned Trevanuance, later said “I rode him too handy the last day at Fairyhouse and he was a bit keen. I suggested to go for an apprentices' race, as they go a good gallop, and when he races behind the bridle he finishes. He had come down to a mark where he was competitive.
“Mr McKiernan has been good to me and has given me a good few spins.
“It is nice to get a double today and hopefully I can keep things going.”
