The Tote, Never Beaten By SP Apprentice Handicap went to 15/2 chance Timeless Piece who completed doubles on the Killarney card for Jessica Harrington and Scott McCullagh.
A winner under McCullagh at Gowran in the spring, the Edelle Logan-owned daughter of Saxon Warrior was waited with towards rear until the straight where she came with a steady run down the outer to lead early in the final furlong.
Despite edging left, she did enough to fend off the persistent challenge of Yamalia Star by a head and there was no alteration to the result following a stewards' enquiry. Simpson's Paradox had initiated the Harrington/McCullagh brace in the one-mile maiden and 3lb claimer McCullagh is now on 11 winners for the campaign.
