Three-year-old filly and joint favourite for today’s assignment, Cnodian (4/1) put up a nice performance to take the Cavalor Handicap at Fairyhouse. Breagagh went for his race in the straight and the only one able to get to him was Cnodian for Willie McCreery and Nathan Crosse.
The successful daughter of Belardo raced in mid-division on the inner, and made headway into fourth two furlongs out.
Soon briefly checked, Cnodian was pushed along in second a furlong and a half out.
Ridden a furlong out, the winner improved to lead close home, staying on well to beat Breagagh by a length, with the pair two and three parts of a length and more clear of the rest.
“She's in Wednesday again and we'll see how she is,” said McCreery.
“I'm delighted for Rory and Noeleen O'Toole, it's their first winner on the Flat and they bred this filly. I've had a couple of fillies before for them that weren't much too but this one has the heart of a lion.
“She liked that ground and I thought Nathan gave her a lovely ride. I told him to sit in and come out a bit off the rail as the better ground was out a bit and he did exactly that so I'm delighted.”
