John McConnell completed a double at Dundalk today as the trainer landed the concluding Test Your Tipping Talents Handicap with Construct under jockey Gary Carroll.
The Derek Kierans-owned son of Maxios today bagged his fifth career, and his first on an all-weather surface, when beating Bold Approach by a length and three parts.
McConnell, earlier successful with Aldente later commented “he deserved that and the trainer has eventually got the trip right. It’s great to get that and it’s a nice pot.
“He’s a good horse over hurdles as well and I think he wants good ground. He’s probably a three-mile hurdler looking at the way he stayed there.
“I wouldn’t rule out something like an English Cesarewitch next year off a low weight.
“He’s a massive big horse and is still developing. We bought him as a three-year-old and he’s only filling into his frame now. He’s a very consistent, genuine horse.”
