Maxwell seen to good effect
Derek Barry’s charge Inoma James benefited from the lightweight on his back when taking the Grand National Trial Handicap Chase in good style under 5 lb claimer Conor Maxwell.
Maxwell was in front from four out and the pair kept on gamely for a cosy seven-length success over Hume River
A delighted Barry said afterwards: “He has been crying out for a trip. We were disappointed with him after Leopardstown.”
“I know we were out of the handicap but there aren’t many of these races so we had to take our chance.”
“He will go for the Midlands National at Uttoxeter next, he loves jumping.”
Paddy Flood who took a fall from the 6/1 favourite Rock Diplomat has been sent to Naas Hospital for precautionary x-rays on his back.
