Master Dunraven (6/1) registered a first career win today in Navan's concluding Book Your Navan Summer BBQ Packages Handicap (Div II), scoring on seasonal reappearance for trainer Johnny Murtagh and stable jockey Ben Coen.
Bred by Noreen McManus and carrying the colours of Adare hotelier Bryan Murphy, the four-year-old had been placed once from nine previous starts and today reverted down in distance, when scoring by three-parts of a length from Jawhary
Coen commented “we thought he'd win off his mark last year and were a little bit disappointed with him but he was good today.
“We rode him 'quiet' (from rear-division) today and it paid off as he came through them well. I needed a gap when I got it but to be fair, he did hit the line well.
“That ground is on the easy side of good and he handled it well.”
