Newcomer Run For Mary came from last to first to take the bumper at Limerick, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Flat Race.
The Charles Byrnes trained daughter of Flemensfirth is owned by the Top Of The Hill Syndicate, who had the great with Solwhit with Byrnes.
The syndicate also had Run For Sol with Byrnes, and she is the dam of Run For Mary who was returned an easy to back 12/1 chance (5s in early shows).
Settled in rear by Ray Barron, the bay victor improved on the outer as they raced towards the straight.
She was pushed along to lead under two furlongs out, and kept on well under pressure inside the final furlong to see off the challenge of So Lonely by three parts of a length.
The runner-up was returned at 14/1 under Finian Maguire for Charles O'Brien, while Villa Moura (9/2 to 7/2) was another length and a quarter back in third. Dolly Dancer was sent off the 13/8 favourite, and she finished fourth with Patrick Mullins aboard for his cousin Emmet.
Byrnes said afterwards: "It was a good performance and I had her mother too. She is a nice mare and had been working nicely and we'll go for a winners' bumper next."
"She runs in the famous Solwhit colours and we bought Run For Mary's dam and Solwhit out of the same stable in Belgium and both were by Solon (stallion)."
STEWARDS REPORT
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Dolly Dancer, ridden by Mr P.W. Mullins, Run For Mary, ridden by Mr R.W. Barron, and Villa Moura, ridden by Mr R. Deegan. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action other than to advise Mr. R.W. Barron to ride with more awareness in future.
