Martin's Star completes hat-trick
Royal County Star completed a hat-trick of wins when narrowly justifying 4/9 favouritism when landing the Summerfest Chase at Killarney this evening.
Ridden by Ruby Walsh, the son of Magical Wonder needed all of Walsh's strength win get the better of Knight Legend to eventually win by a short head.
Afterwards winning trainer Tony Martin reported "Ruby was very good on him but you couldn't read too much into the race as they went no gallop - he jumped well, apart from the first two fences."
He added "Royal County Star is entered in the Galway Plate and currently has 11st7lbs and may run, provided the top weight (Deutschland) stays in. He's also entered in the Galway Hurdle and a three miles handicap hurdle there and they are each options."
