Marcus takes the last for Flynn & Grant
The final race on a bumper eight race card at Dundalk this afternoon, division two of the [email protected] Handicap, went to the Pat Flynn trained, Danny Grant ridden Marcus Attilius
Having put in four decent efforts in handicaps already this year, the 3yo son of Spartacus was certainly not winning out of turn on his first trip to Dundalk.
The step up in trip from a 1m 2f to a 1m 4f certainly suited him as he hit the front two furlongs out before keeping on well when ridden to score by a comfortable three and a half lengths. Ionisphere for Willie McCreery fared best of the rest back in second at 10/1 while General Bunching completed the placings a further two lengths back in third at 10/1 on his handicap debut.
Winning rider Danny Grant said afterwards: "He stays well. He jumped (out of the stalls) fast and the plan was to make it or sit second."
