Jockey Patrick Mangan registered his first winner of the season when steering the John Morrison trained 5/4 favourite Shouband to win the Philip Carroll Memorial Maiden Hurdle at Tramore today.
Shouband had finished gained prizemoney on each of his five previous starts but was today getting his head in front for the first time, eventually holding off the late challenge of Victoryrowe by three parts of a length.
Morrison wasn't present but Mangan, riding his first winner since The Grey Guy at Clonmel last March, stated "I thought I was always holding on and I suppose it wasn't much of a race.
"I thought I'd win on Invincible Don (finished second) for John here the other day as well."
