Magwadiri justified plenty of market support, as he took the second divide of the Ladies Day At Roscommon On Monday 9th July 2018 Handicap.
Previously trained by Paul Deegan, and making his debut for Jessica Harrington this evening, the son of Casamento was available at 6/1 in early shows.
He opened on-course at just 11/4, before going off the 9/4 favourite under Colm O'Donoghue.
Settled in mid-division, he was sixth entering the straight. He improved into second and was ridden in pursuit of the leader with a furlong left to race, getting to the front inside the final 150 yards, before going on to score by three parts of a length. Admirality (11/2), who kicked for home from the two furlong pole, had to settle for second under Shane Kelly for Johnny Murtagh, while Full Shilling (9s to 7s) was another two and a half lengths back in third.
"He hasn't been with Jessie that long but he's been in good form," said O'Donoghue.
"I haven't sat on him at home, that's the first time I sat on him, but Jessie was quite happy with the way he was coming along at home and wanted to start him off.
"We went quite quick. He's a horse that has been held up before and run some nice races so I just wanted to get there as late as possible on him. We're still getting to know him."
