Daisy Jones was another odds-on favourite beaten on the heavy ground at Navan when she gave best in the closing stages of the five-furlong maiden for three-year-olds plus.
She was still in front with 50 yards to go but Magical Vision (16/1) made relentless headway from third at the furlong pole to overwhelm her close home.
The new leader had to withstand a late thrust from Cavallo Pazzo (10/1) who closed to within a head at the line with the winner all out. Daisy Jones (10/11f) was a neck down in third.
This was just five-year-old mare Magical Vision's second career run having finished ninth on debut at the Curragh last month (with Daisy Jones in front of her in second).
Trainer Aidan Howard said: “I always liked her. She’s had her little problems which have delayed us.
“She’s quick and handles the ground real well. We’ll put her away and the education today will bring her on again.
“Hopefully we’ll get her out early next season and there are some nice pots for sprinters.”
The Stewards interviewed C.J. MacRedmond, rider of Daisy Jones, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, C.J. MacRedmond admitted that he had breached the whip guidelines. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that C.J. MacRedmond was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended C.J. MacRedmond for one raceday.
