Maggie pleases her supporters
Maggie Connolly (2/1 into 11/8) ran out a convincing winner of the Anglo Printers Mares Maiden Hurdle at Limerick under Emmet Mullins.
A half-sister to Ferdy Murphy's dual winner, Catch Bob and from the family of Cousin Vinny, Maggie Connolly led here before two out and she went on to beat the very easy to back Catcherinscratcher by four and a half lengths.
Patrick Mullins, representing his father, winning trainer Willie, said: "She deserved that after the last day (2nd to yesterday's graded winner Knockfierna). She got a great ride from Emmet who kept her on the best of the ground the whole way. I'd imagine we'll try and get a bit of black-type with her now.
"I think Emmet has about a 50 per cent strike rate for Dad here, something like eight winners from sixteen rides so it's great for him too."
