It was a case of another day, another double for Gavin Cromwell, as Mac N Cheese completed a brace for the Champion Hurdle winning trainer in the Fast Terminals Handicap Hurdle.
Cromwell registered a double at Musselburgh on Wednesday and repeated the feat at Bellewstown on Thursday and again yesterday.
He saddled three in this three mile contest and amazingly they went off the 6/1 co-favourites.
Settled in mid-division by Brien Kane, the winning son of Milan took closer order from five out and came through to lead after the third last.
He was ridden and pressed by City Hall from before the final flight, but pulled out more on the run-in to prevail by half a length.
The runner-up was returned at 7/1 under Shane Shortall for Joseph O'Brien, while the front-running Kilkishen (14/1) was another five and a half lengths back in third. Toosey and Aasleagh Dawn were the other co-favourites and they finished eighth and tenth respectively.
Cromwell, who trains the winner for the Fair Fox Syndicate, said: "That's brilliant and I'm delighted for Brien as it's his birthday as well.
"What can I say they are just running well. It's worked out great with this horse as he was cheap buy. He has won over fences and is after winning there now.
"He will probably go for the Galway Blazers now."
Cromwell was earlier on the mark with Ming Dynasty in the feature race on the programme.
STEWARDS REPORTS
The Stewards interviewed J.B. Kane, rider of Mac N Cheese, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that J.B. Kane was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f)(frequency) and Regulation 10.3(i)(time to respond) and having considered his record, they suspended him for 1 raceday.
J.P. O'Sullivan, rider of Fiveaftermidnight trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.
