Four generations of Eddie Lynam-trained horses were represented in his Dundalk winner Jack Rose today, as the Lady O'Reilly owned colt easily won the Irish EBF Median Sires Series (C&G) Maiden.
Jack Rose is a son of Lynam's Diamond Jubilee and July Cup winner Slade Power and today, under jockey Chris Hayes, quickened smartly to easily beat Navagio thereby rewarding strong market confidence (2/1 — 11/8f) in the winner.
Lynam, whose training career began at the Phoenix Park in 1983, later recalled “I'm showing my age now because I trained his sire, the dam of the sire (Girl Power, born in 2004), the great-dam of the sire (Rumuz, 1994) and the grand-dam on the dam's side (Red Feather, 2001) who was second in a Moyglare for me.”
He added “he's a smart colt. We picked out this race a long time ago because of the good prize-money (€15,000 to the winner) and the ten grand bonus. He was getting all the allowances as well.
“It maybe didn't have much strength in depth but he did it nicely and we'll see where we go from here. We'll get a mark after this. You'd like the way he did things today, he looked impressive.”
