Trainer Natalia Lupini bagged a double on the card at Fairyhouse tonight when Running Cool produced a game front-running performance to land the six furlong maiden.
The Bobby's Kitten colt was well beaten when pitched into group company at Naas on his last start but had been narrowly denied on his previous outing when third to Fort Vega at Gowran.
Wayne Lordan bounced the 10/3 shot out in front today and he knuckled down well in the straight to get the job done. Paradise Perfect finished off best to get within three-parts-of-a-length of the winner at the line.
“He's a big, strong, powerful horse. Today he kept galloping to the line and Wayne said he wasn't stopping and he thinks there is more to come from him,” said Lupini.
“Obviously he had a bit of a bad day at Naas in the Group 3, things just didn't work out for him but we still believe he is a nice horse for the future.
“The horse that won in Gowran the time before went on to win again for Sheila (Lavery) in Naas so the form was well franked.
“We'll see what the handicapper does with him but we still believe he is a nice horse for the future. Hopefully we can step him up in grade.”
Lupini had also struck with Alma Libre in the apprentice handicap.
