Love is in the air at Down Royal
Love was the theme at Down Royal today as Stroke Of Love followed-up the earlier success of Act Of Love in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden.
This first-time out American-bred was an easy-to-back 9/1 shot but she exceeded expectations with a half a length success over the favourite, Dance On By (a sister to High Chaparral who didn't enjoy the clearest of passages but had every chance in the end).
As for Stroke Of Love, she appeared to have a mountain to climb from the three furlong pole as she was under pressure, but Pat Smullen's mount came home strongly between horses to score.
Moyglare Stud Farm own and bred the Smart Strike three-year-old and Ascot Gold Cup hero, Dermot Weld trains her.
