In as second reserve at Roscommon on Tuesday Loingseoir began what could be a profitable few days with a win in the Fermoy Handicap at Cork.
Michael Grassick junior’s Henrythenavigator gelding certainly didn’t go un-backed for this assignment — 16s into 12s — after showing some encouraging signs in the past.
Here on outing number seven he shed his maiden tag, by three parts of a length from Vita Veritas with the pair four and a half lengths clear.
Winning jockey Mikey Sheehy said: “He jumped slowish but I let him get into his rhythm. He quickened up well in the straight and won well at the line.
“He was good and tough. He stuck his head out and he galloped right to the line. He loved the ground.”
