Lock Mor Lad surprises in Ballinrobe finale
Lock Mor Lad and Eddie Power was another result for the bookmakers on a difficult afternoon for punters, the 20/1 chance seeing it out best in the concluding Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Steeplechase at Ballinrobe.
Lock Mor Lad led four out and despite not being overly convincing with his jumping in the latter stages, the Tom Hogan-trained seven-year-old was still able to fend off Yachvili and Ballygill Gale by three parts of a length and four lengths.
Hogan said afterwards: "Luckily everything went well for him and I have to give Eddie most of the credit for it. I was just hoping that he'd finish in the first four. He has lived rough for the last three months - he hasn't been in a stable for that length of time."
