Little Rensnest claims opener for Foley
The Tom Foley trained Little Rensnest over-turned the 11/10 favourite Twin Joy to take the opening Sunday Family Day At Kilbeggan Maiden Hurdle under a fine ride by Tom Ryan.
Ryan who made most aboard the daughter of Taipan was strongly pressed by the favourite entering the straight but dug deep for Ryan on the run-in to score by an easy seventeen lengths.
Winning trainer Foley said afterwards: “She has always been capable of a win, she just has a mind of her own.”
“If she was ever going to win one today was her day. The tight track probably helped her a bit.”
“We’ll keep her on the go now for the owner Anthony Fitzgerald, she's his pride and joy.”
Paddy Flood who took a crashing fall from Killone Oscar has been stood down for the remainder of the day with a suspected broken collar bone and hand.
