Drombeg Dream gained a third career success in the Gowran Park Race at Gowran today as the Austin Leahy trained filly will now bids to emulate her dam and win next season's Irish Lincoln.
The keen-going daughter of Arcano chased leader Burning Question for much of the mile trip and in the end moved past that 10/11 favourite with a furlong to race, before beating the 'jolly' by two and a half lengths.
The 10/1 winner carries the colours of Leahy's farrier Cian McAuliffe and following the race Leahy said “the ground suits her and Shane Foley rides her well and is full of confidence about her. She travelled awfully well.
“We might have a shot at a black-type race after that, and we’ll look for a mile Listed race; her dam (Drombeg Dawn) won the Lincoln (in 2011, for trainer Andrew McNamara) and we might think about that next March.”
