Limit Long finally justified the confidence of trainer Darren Bunyan when getting off the mark at the seventeenth attempt in the six-furlong handicap at Fairyhouse.
The Lope De Vega gelding has always shown the Curragh trainer plenty in his home work, and delivered here at odds of 16/1.
The four-year-old made virtually all under Leigh Roche and found plenty under pressure inside the final quarter mile to beat Time Stands Still by half a length. Kodiqueen was a further three quarters of a length back in third.
Bunyan said, “It’s a surprise that win took so long as he’s a horse that works extremely well at home.
“He’s a horse that has been lacking a bit in confidence at times and our apprentice Niamh Bennett has done a marvelous job with him. His form is starting to come together now.
“He responded well under pressure where in the past he might have curled up. He wants it now and maybe he can win a few more now.
“I’m delighted for the syndicate as they have been very patient.
“He’ll go on any ground bar tacky ground. He was drawn on the wrong side at the Curragh the last day and didn’t handle the ground.”
