Jockey Danny Mullins completed a double at Limerick today, completing the feat on the Richard O'Brien trained top weight Sparkling Stars in the McDermott's GalaPatrickswell Handicap Hurdle.
Having won on handicap debut at Naas in February, the big grey son of Turgeon today battled well to beat Francois by three parts of a length.
Trainer O'Brien was at Gowran and afterwards Mullins, earlier successful on the Andy Slattery trained Rebel Step said “it was a good tough performance. He was second in Navan the last day and maybe drier ground suited him today.
“He is really starting to fill into himself and the fact he goes on nicer ground means he could stay going. There are options for him at Punchestown and Killarney early in the summer.”
