Sargent Lightfoot proved too strong for hotpot Petrol Head in the two-mile-three handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan tonight.
Ronan McNally 's charge went to post a 1/2 shot to follow up on his victory at Roscommon on Monday.
He couldn't find a way past 11/1 winner Sargent Lightfoot in the closing stages however.
Adrian Murray 's charge came to lead after the second last and asserted close home for a three-and-a-quarter length win under Denis O'Regan.
The pair came close on the run-in, and the stewards had a look afterwards, but the result was unchanged.
“We were expecting that he would run well today, he was in great form coming into the race,” said Murray.
“I said to Denis before the race that I never had him as well.
“He gets himself worked up a bit and can lose his race through nervous energy. He was grand today.
“We might go to Galway with him now. We have him schooled over fences and after Galway we might go chasing.”
